Aurora Tree
This is a surrealistic modification of a real-world photo of a tree, accomplished in Photoshop using nine different layers of image information. The original tree image comes from a photograph provided by my father, who is a photographer. I removed the clear blue sky that formed the background of the photograph, and then tweaked lots and lots of things to come up with the odd effect you see here. The stars in the background are actually considerably more subtle on the original, but the image suffered a bit when I reduced it for display here. The original image is nine times larger than what you see here. This drawing took two or three hours to prepare, as I tried all sorts of things on it.
