Seine River at Sunset
For this image, I started with a digital photograph of the Seine River in Paris (not the same one I have in my Photo Gallery, by the way), taken at sunset on a rather cloudy day. The photo had a slightly surrealistic look to it to begin with, and I increased this by saturating and posterizing the colors in the image. I then applied an impressionistic filter to make it look handmade. The result looks vaguely like something Van Gogh might have produced (but I should say that I’ve never been impressed by the work of Van Gogh, so this isn’t saying much in my book). Thanks to the original coloring and conditions of the photograph, this modified version looks pretty convincingly like something that might have been painted by hand. More proof that you can’t trust what you see nowadays!
