Avenue Foch
The avenue Foch /avny foʃ/ has a reputation for being the most expensive residential avenue in Paris, and the reputation is well deserved. Apartments along this avenue sell for many millions of dollars each, and rent for tens of thousands of dollars a month. For years, the avenue has been particularly popular with wealthy residents from Arab countries, but that has faded in recent years as changing oil prices have diminshed the wealth of oil-producing Arab countries somewhat. Of course, other wealthy residents flock to the avenue as well.
In recent years, an attempt to evict prostitutes from the nearby Bois de Boulogne (a huge city park that begins right next to the western end of this avenue) caused them to stream onto the avenue Foch in the evenings, tarnishing the reputation of the neighborhood and lowering property values. I don't know what the current situation is as far as property values go, as I don't keep up on such stuff. The apartments are still very expensive, of course.
In this picture, taken in the early afternoon, you are looking northeast towards the Arc de Triomphe, which is at the upper end of the avenue. I have a photograph of this avenue taken from the top of the arch at about the same time of day, if you are interested.
