Louvre Museum⏮ ◀ LouvreMuseum ▶ ⏭ 🛈 ⛶ This is the main entrance of (the “Napoleon courtyard”) of the Louvre Museum↗, the largest museum in the world, and home to over half a million works of art. Some people visit Paris just to see this museum. The courtyard is dominated by the modern glass Pyramide of the Louvre, designed by architect Ieoh Ming Pei, and completed in 1989. It is the main entrance of the museum. The entrance complex is underground and includes a shopping center, a food court, and a vast parking garage that can hold a vast number of tour buses. In the background is the Louvre Palace. It was the residence of the French monarch until Louis XIV moved his headquarters to Versailles. I also have a picture of the Louvre at night, from a different angle, if you are interested. Photographed on May 8, 2024. |
