Champs-ÉlyséesAvenue des Champs-Élysées A broad avenue stretches into the distance towards a brilliantly-lit triumphal arch in this nighttime photograph. Tall trees line the avenue and yellow-tinted streetlights illuminate it. On either side of the avenue, behind the trees, we can just glimpse very broad sidewalks filled with people, and colorful illuminated signs and displays. Several vehicles moving towards or away from the camera are blurred in the foreground. The pavement is formed of small, glistening cobblestones. The avenue seems to rise slightly upwards as it extends into the background towards the arch. The traffic merges into a mass of white light on the left, and a mass of red light (from tail lamps) on the right. The brilliant lighting and animation of the avenue, the arch, and and their surroundings contrasts sharply with a very dark and starless sky.
