Notre-Dame Cathedral

Notre-Dame Cathedral

Description: Beneath a cloudless blue sky, we see a large, ornate cathedral of carved, cream-colored limestone, lit by sunlight peaking through the clouds, and perched on an island next to a narrow, well-tamed river channel filled with greenish water flowing lazily along on the left side of the image. The cathedral, partially hidden by large trees that are just beginning to bloom in a park at its base, features a steep lead roof, a very tall central spire, delicate flying buttresses rising from the ground to the sides of the edifice, a massive rose window at the midpoint of the structure, and twin bell towers with flat tops at the end of the cathedral furthest from the camera. Huge, spooky-looking archways in the towers reveal large, dark, metal louvers that direct the sound from the bells within downward towards the ground. Greenery seems to drip from the edge of the island over a low wall and down towards the water of the river channel.
