Sacre-Coeur BasilicaSacré-Cœur Basilica Description: A rather steep, grassy hillside park rises into the distance away from the camera in this rather wide-angle shot. The park is traversed by terraced walkways and stairs. Two combined walkways/stairways go straight towards the top of the hill, while a ramp-like path on the left zigzags its way to the summit. In the distance is a kind of white marble balcony with arched alcoves beneath it, and beyond that, higher on the hill, can be seen a large structure of white marble vaguely recalling a kind of modest cross between an Eastern Orthodox church like St. Basil's and the Taj Mahal. There is one central dome flanked by two smaller domes. The photo is taken with the sun low and just off to the left placing much of the park in the foreground in shadow, with patches of sunlight illuminating the grass and walkways higher up the hill. The basilica itself is lit in bright sunlight from the left and just behind the structure, and the sky beyond is cloudless and light blue. Large, leafy trees on the left are responsible for most of the shade. A large number of people are walking or sitting on benches in the park. In the lower foreground is a broad set of steps leading up to the rest of the park. The photo is taken obliquely upward from a lower corner of the park, with the basilica on the right and trees on the left.
