This is the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, in the Tuileries gardens near the Louvre. Itis a kind of little sister to the much larger Arc de Triomphe (de l’Étoile)at the top of the avenue des Champs-Élysées. Likethe larger Arc, it celebrates war. It is a bit older than the large arch, and it was consciously designed to imitatethe Arch of Septimus Severus in Rome. In the background you can see the Louvre Museum itself.
