Place de l’Estrapade (Emily’s Apartment)

This is the apartment building of Emily Cooper, the fictional protagonist of the television series Emily in Paris. There are always Americans taking pictures of it.

The building, constructed by Sylvain Moreau in the 1770s and bearing his name, is on the Place de l’Estrapade in the Latin Quarter. Estrapade means torture ont he rack, and this place was one location where such tortures were carried out on deserting soldiers and othres until the late 1600s. I have to wonder if the show’s producers knew that. They probably just thought it was a pretty spot, which it is, today (but who knows what ghosts roam here at night, eh?).

I’ve never actually seen the show myself. I don't need to … I live it. The main differences are that I’m not a cute young woman, I speak French, and I’m not as clueless or boorish as she is.

Supposedly she lives oin the fifth floor (not visible here).
