(Former) Jo Goldenberg Deli

This clothing shop used to be the famous Jo Goldenberg delicatessen, in the rue des Rosiers. Like so many historical Jewish businesses in this neighborhood, it yielded to gentrification some years ago, and the owner died in 2014.

The restaurant appeared in several movies, and it was also the target of an infamous terrorist attack in 1982, which killed six people and injured 22.

The owner left for work one day during the Occupation, and when he returned home, his parents and four siblings had been rounded up and deported to Auschwitz, never to be seen again.
