This is the Mur de la Paix (“Wall of Peace”), an art project on the Champ de Mars that was intended to be ephemeral but lingered for years. When the spot was repurposed to accommodate a temporary version of the Palais de la Découverte while the latter’s usual location was being renovated, the artist tried to relocate it to another spot in the same arrondissement, but many opposed this, and it was finlly torn down.
