Pont au Double

     PontAuDouble

This is the Pont au Double, a pedestrian bridge that connects the plaza in front of Notre-Dame with the Left Bank.

The first version of this bridge, built of stone, was completed in 1632. This is the fourth rebuild of the bridge, in iron. The bridge is so called because a toll charge of two coins (a double denier) was originally charged to cross it.

I have a nighttime picture looking the other way.

Photographed on June 20, 2014.
