Rue GalandeRueGalande Some neighborhoods in Paris have very old streets, and the Latin Quarter is one such neighborhood. The street you se here is the rue Galande, a street that has its origins in the days of the Roman Empire, when the Romans established a settlement here and called it Lutetia. A path through the town became this street, which has existed in its current form for almost a thousand years. During that time it has always been filled with shops. In this view, taken from the rue Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre, you can see the western end of this small street. Odette is a famous pastry shop that is well known for its cream puffs. The church of Saint Severin is in the background across the street on the right. On the left, but outside the frame, is the church of Saint Julien le Pauvre, the oldest church in Paris. Further on outside the frame, at the east end of the street, is the Sutudio Galande, a cinema that has been running the Rocky Horror Picture Show almost since the Romans left.
