Bercy Village

first      previous      next      last

This is Bercy Village, an outdoor shopping center built to look old-fashioned, in the style of the wine markets that once stood in the area. It is east of the Bercy Park and the Palais Omnisports de Bercy, after which it is named. The village had only just opened in this photo, but it is now quite popular (I don't have a more recent photo yet—sorry). All the available stores in the center are now occupied, and it attracts a pretty good crowd after work and on weekends.

The large building in the background is the UGC Ciné Cité Bercy, the largest cineplex in Paris, with 18 movie theaters. The photograph was taken in the early afternoon, and you are looking roughly south.

Photographed on July 31, 2000.
