Parc de Sainte Périnefirst previous next last This beautiful park is so well hidden, and so little known, that I doubt that anyone not from its immediate neighborhood ever visits it, or even knows that it is there. The park is that of Sainte Périne /paʁk sɛ̃t peʁin/, in a part of town that I’ll deliberately not name, and it is so discreet that it cannot be seen from any nearby street. You have to know where to look for it, or you’ll never find it. At the risk of giving a few hints as to its location, the park used to be the property of the hospitals that surround it on several sides. In 1977, the City of Paris acquired the land and turned it into a public park. It is crowded on nice days, but there is no sign of tourists anywhere. It is very quiet (except for the sounds of children), and very peaceful. Photographed on May 28, 2001. |
