Observation Deck at Centre Pompidoufirst previous next last In addition to escalators, the western facade of the Centre National d’Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou in Paris includes a few open observation decks, and this is one of them. This photo was taken from about seven stories up. You’re looking north in the photograph, taken in the late afternoon. The open area to the right below the building is the place Georges Pompidou; the basilica of Sacré-Cœur is just barely visible right behind the white strut almost exactly in the middle of the photograph (somehow I managed to miss the fact that I had placed it right behind the strut when I took the picture—I’ll have to redo this photo sometime). Photographed on April 2, 2000. |
