Porte Lescot at Forum des Halles

first      previous      next      last

The underground shopping center and Métro station at the Forum des Halles have several entrances, but this one, opening onto the pedestrian rue Lescot, is probably the busiest one.

You are looking west in this photo. Just left of the carrousel behind this building is the spot from which I took my other picture of the Forum. The escalators beneath the arches lead down into the shopping center and, beneath that, to the gigantic Châtelet-les-Halles Métro station. Most of the streets in this area are for pedestrians only.

This part of Paris gets a bit seedy after midnight, although I would not call it dangerous or anything.

Photographed on November 8, 1999.
