Rue Mouffetardfirst previous next last This is the rue Mouffetard, a street famous for its open market vendors, who operate every weekday (unlike many other open markets in Paris, which are open only on certain days). In this photograph, you see several people selecting and purchasing fresh produce from one of the open vendor stalls. Walking down this street always makes me hungry, for some reason. There is more than just produce, of course: you can find fruits and vegetables, but also fish, shellfish, beef, poultry, cheese and dairy products, pastries, candy, and just about anything else that is edible. Unfortunately, the street is very narrow, and I didn't have a really wide-angle lens to help me photograph it on this day. I’ll keep trying for better photos in the future. Photographed on July 13, 1999. |
