Seine River Flooding

first      previous      next      last

This is the Seine River as it looks when it is running high with snowmelt and runoff, which happens several times a year. This was an extremely dreary, heavily overcast day, with lots of fog and misty rain. Unfortunately, such days are not exceptional in winter.

The Eiffel Tower is just barely visible in the background, as a greyish tower rising from the cityscape just to the left of center.

Photographed on December 31, 1999.
