Seine River at Night

first      previous      next      last

This is a photograph of the Seine River in Paris, taken from the Pont des Arts pedestrian bridge, just west of the Île de la Cité.

The tall structure brilliantly lit in yellow far off in the distance, just to the left of center, is the Eiffel Tower. The bridge in the foreground is the Pont du Carrousel, which leads to the southern wing of the Louvre Museum. Beyond that, on the Left Bank (which is indeed on the left here), and brilliantly lit as compared to other buildings, is the Musée d’Orsay, a former railway station converted into a museum of Impressionist art.

I have another photo that shows what the scenery looks like in the opposite direction, if you’re curious.

Photographed on November 29, 1999.
