Pont Neuf in Bad Weather

Pont Neuf in Bad Weather

In this afternoon photograph, looking northwest, under heavily overcast skies and misty in fog we see a multiple-arch stone bridge, spanning a swollen, silt-laden river about 130 metres wide. The arches are somewhat darkened by soot. The river is flowing very quickly and rushes around the submerged piers of the bridge. There are structures off in the distance, one with rounded, turret-like towers; and a tall iron tower is barely visible, with its summit hidden in clouds, several kilometres away in the background. On the lower right, we can see a partially submerged guard railing that is the only sign of an expressway entirely covered by water.

Technical details: Nikon CP950 digital camera (ISO 80), full auto, handheld, cropped and color-adjusted in Photoshop
