Food Court at the Louvre

       FoodcourtRivoli

This is the food court at the Louvre, opened in 1993 with the rest of the Carrousel du Louvre underground shopping mall just west of the museum.

he food court has undergone several transformations. Originally it offered a wide variety of cuisines from different parts of the world, and was quite large. But then an Apple Store moved in and cannibalized a large chunk of the food court (the store has since closed, but the food curt was left as-is), and the independent restaurants were pushed out and replaced by several restaurants run by the same Italian highway-rest-stop conglomerate, which offered only a pseudo-variety of food.

Despite these changes, it’s still a convenient stop for food before or after visiting the museum, which tends to make people hungry with its hours of walking. It got way more expensive after the conglomerate moved in, unfortunately.

There’s also a McDonald’s here now (behind the camera in this photo).

I don’t often visit the Louvre itself, but I eat at the food court occasionally.

Photographed on May 8, 2024.
