Bateaux Parisiensfirst previous next last One of the major competitors of the Bateaux-Mouches excursion boats on the Seine River is the Bateaux Parisiens. The embarcation point for these boats, shown in this photo, is on the east side of the pont d’Iéna, the bridge that crosses the Seine in front of the Eiffel Tower. I’m not sure of the exact ranking of the different boat companies, but this one seems to be running a close second behind the Bateaux-Mouches. The boats are almost as fancy, albeit a bit smaller. I’ve never taken a ride on one of the Bateaux Parisiens, so I can’t speak from firsthand experience. In the distance on the river is the Nomadic, the tender of the ship Titanic at Cherbourg. I have a close-up, if you are interested. This was taken late in the afternoon, so shadows are a bit long. I’ll try to do better in the future. Photographed on November 15, 1999. |
