Lobby of the Centre Pompidou

first      previous      next      last

This is part of the main lobby area of the the Centre National d’Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou. The museum doesn’t really have a lobby per se, but it does have this large open area where you enter the building, and often there are small expositions or other attractions inside. I can’t tell the difference between modern art and furniture or construction work, so I’m not sure whether anything is visible in this photo or not.

This photo was taken from a mezzanine that leads to the external escalators (and by which you must pass to access the other floors of the museum. You're looking south with late-afternoon light coming in through the windows of the main entrance at the right.

Photographed on April 2, 2000.
