Southern Rose Window from Inside

Notre-Dame Cathedral

Description: An enormous, largely circular stained-glass window fills the frame of this image, surrounded by blackness. Religious scenes are discernable on the panels of the stained glass. The window is light from behind by sunlight. The upper window vaguely resembles a rose, with a circular center and 24 large "petals" radiating outward from it; very thin lines of stone separate the glass sections. Small petals are part of larger petals, and the overall impression is of very complex and precise symmetry, disregarding the scenes in the glass, which are all different. It is difficult to see what each scene portrays at this distance.
